About Joachim De Vos

Joachim De Vos is Founder & CEO of FuturuZ. From there he translates the research and insights from his books into keynotes, executive workshops, leadership sessions and Future Journeys on the future, innovation, strategy, AI and data. His audiences are boards, executive committees and conferences in Belgium and internationally.

Scenario planning is his method. Not as prediction, but as a discipline: teaching organizations to decide in a future they cannot know. As a professor at Ghent University he has taught scenario planning for years, alongside strategy, innovation and the future of health. He is also a member of the Advisory Council of Harvard Business Review.

What he talks about is one persistent puzzle. Why do so many innovation and data programs run aground when technology is rarely the problem? His books Why Innovation Fails and Why Data Wins answer that question, with frameworks leaders can put to work on Monday. He developed the Black Box Canvas™ and the ImQ Test™ for AI transformations, and the Data Wave Scan™ shows organizations in minutes where they stand and what the next logical step is.

That answer does not come from theory. Over thirty years he has seen thousands of companies from the inside: industrial players, hospitals, governments, scale-ups. For twelve of those years he was CEO of Living Tomorrow. Time and again he saw the same thing. Organizations that see the future coming with great clarity, and are still not ready for it.

His background explains that combination. He is an engineer in micro-electronics and data communication, holds an MBA from KU Leuven / Kellogg School of Management and was trained in scenario planning at Oxford. Engineering, strategy and futures thinking, aligned.
