Two legs, one crossbar — how π-shaped are you?

The Greek letter π gives the measurement structure for free: two legs and a crossbar. On page 105 of Why Data Wins, Joachim De Vos introduces the π-profile: professionals with twö depths — domain expertise in their field, and enough data literacy to think along, analyse, and interpret insight. Valuable insight emerges exactly at the intersection of the two.

This test measures three components: your domain depth (D), your data depth (A, via a real knowledge test with increasing difficulty), and your translation ability (V) — turning model output into a decision. Takes about 5 minutes.

This test uses a self-authored item bank, not an externally validated bank of hundreds of items. Treat your score as an indication, not a scientific certificate.
π-score = V-factor × √(D × A) × 10, max 100
D and A on 1-10, V-factor between ~0.7 and 1.15. A geometric mean — not arithmetic — so a 9 on domain and a 2 on data doesn’t yield a high score: that’s a T-profile, not a π.

Why this structure?

An arithmetic average of domain and data depth would reward a 9 on domain and a 2 on data with a score of 5.5 — as if that person had a balanced profile. That’s wrong: that’s a T-profile, not a π. The geometric mean (√(D×A)) penalizes that imbalance, and the V-factor acts as a multiplier — translation ability without either leg is nothing to connect.
