My meeting with Bill Gates
A personal memory from 1995
In 1995, Bill Gates officially opened the very first Living Tomorrow — the House of the Future — where Joachim De Vos personally guided him through self-developed applications like early-internet teleshopping and a remote video doorbell. Gates was impressed, but stayed cautious: ‘The web is too unstructured to do business on,’ he said at the time. During the tour he also said something Joachim never forgot: ‘Microsoft has to become the core of our daily life in this future. Information at your fingertips.’ This is the short film Gates had made at the time.
